Business owners with dedicated parking may benefit from a subsidy of up to £14,000 to install up to 40 EV chargers under the Workplace Charging Point Scheme.
Call us to find out if you qualify for a grant. We will arrange a no-obligation survey to determine your eligibility and recommend the best charging point for your premises.
Rocketing energy bills are a major financial concern for many UK homeowners. However, an EESS or Electrical Energy Storage System offers the solution. An EESS uses solar panels in Kent combined with one or more batteries. Depending on the panel’s size and battery storage capacity, this can decrease electricity bills by up to 85%. Solar power is an emission-free way to power a home. Unlike fossil fuels, solar power doesn’t create toxic pollutants.
There are plans to build a 55-acre solar farm on empty land in Kent, between Folkestone and Ashford, on a site equivalent to 30 football pitches.
RNA Energy, the firm behind the plant, has undertaken a public consultation to seek the views of people living nearby before proposing a planning application to Folkestone and Hythe District Council.
The solar array at Pent Farm in Postling, north of the M20 and to the northeast of Stanford, would feature photovoltaic solar panels up to three metres high.
The solar farm could produce enough green energy to power around 3,800 homes.
This is not the only solar array planned for the countryside between Ashford and Folkestone.
Evolution Power’s Stonestreet Green Solar project, which would cover about 400 acres of land near Ashford, would consist of photovoltaic panels and battery storage.
It would cover an area close to Aldington, roughly around the size of 250 football pitches.
The firm behind it says it could generate enough renewable energy to power about 48,000 homes, saving approximately 37,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year.
Meanwhile, an EDF Renewables’ proposal for a 250-acre solar farm – earmarked for fields near Ashford between Smeeth, Aldington and Sellindge – would produce enough electricity to power 17,000 homes a year.
While using energy produced by a solar farm has the same positive environmental impact as owning your own system, there are a few advantages to having your own panels.
Owning your own solar panels gives you more control over the energy you’re producing and using. With renewable energy from a solar farm, you share the energy production with others, which may not align with your environmental goals.
Owning your own solar panels gives you independence, meaning you’re not relying on the energy grid or companies and are less prone to power cuts. Using renewable energy from a solar farm means you’re still connected to the grid and could be affected by decisions made by the owning company.
At Tarven, we offer two solar panel installation alternatives. You can choose a cheaper solar panels-only installation or an EESS. The drawback of solar panels only is you can only consume energy as it is created. After sunset, with solar panels only, you will need to revert to grid electricity. On the other hand, a battery system stores power, so you can use the power generated during the day to power your home at night, eradicating the need for the grid.
The best system for you will depend on your daily lifestyle and budget. For example, a house with one or two retired occupants or who work from home may find solar panels without batteries cater adequately to their needs. But a large family out at work or school during the day will probably use the main part of their electricity in the evening, and an EESS is the better choice.
Get in touch with us, and we will discuss how you can lower your bills and reduce your carbon footprint with a home renewable energy system.
