Solar Panels With Battery Storage - The Complete Solar Solution
What Are Solar Batteries?
A solar battery is a battery that works with solar panels to store any excess electricity generated by your solar panels.
With solar panels, you must use the electricity as it is produced, but a system with batteries allows you to store the electricity created by your solar panels during the daytime to use later at night or when the weather is too grey to generate power. It’s a terrific way to make the most of renewable energy. It will further reduce your reliance on the grid and boost your self-sufficiency, leaving you less vulnerable to power cuts and electricity price hikes.
Tarven Limited offers solar panels and batteries in complete solar panel installation packages. Alternatively, we can retrofit a battery storage system to the panel array if you already have panels.
We have a skilled team of solar battery storage experts working throughout Kent and the South East who can advise you on the best battery system, depending on your household size, budget, and available space. They’ll provide all the information and guidance you need to choose the perfect power storage solution for your property.

Why Choose Solar Panels and Battery Storage?
Financial Gains
With battery storage, you can store surplus energy produced during the day and use it during the evening or at night, further lowering your energy bills.
Future-Proof Investment
Installing solar panels with battery storage adds value to a property. It is a long-term investment that helps you save money and makes your home more attractive to potential buyers.
Environmental Benefits
Environmental Benefits: Solar energy is a clean and green alternative to fossil fuels. Battery storage maximizes your solar usage, minimizing the need for energy from non-renewable sources.
Choosing The Best Solar Storage System
There are four types of solar batteries. These are lithium-ion, lead-acid, flow batteries, and nickel cadmium. In the UK most used solar batteries are lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries.
The advantage of lead-acid batteries is they are usually more affordable than lithium-ion batteries, but they are less efficient and last less time than lithium-ion batteries. Lithium-ion batteries not only have a longer lifespan but are also more efficient, so in the long run often turn out to be the most cost-effective option.
One of our best sellers that we highly recommend is GivEnergy’s battery storage systems. These use lithium-iron phosphate batteries, also known as LiFePO4 or LFP.
Lithium iron phosphate batteries are less inclined to combust and thermal runaway, which can damage the battery beyond repair. This makes them safer than other types for home use. Plus, LiFePO4 batteries will outlast lithium-ion batteries for up to five times longer.
Adding Battery Storage to an Existing PV System
Batteries may not have appealed to you when you initially installed your panels. But the market is constantly changing, and as technology advances, you may wish you had taken advantage of energy storage.
However, retrofitting batteries to existing panels or adding more batteries to an existing storage system is possible. Retrofitting batteries is an excellent way to reduce the impact of potential blackouts and allow you to use solar energy day and night. Solar panels are nearly always compatible with battery storage systems.
Solar Power Storage FAQs
An inverter is one of the essential pieces of equipment in a solar energy system. Solar batteries store the sun’s power as Direct Current (DC), so an inverter is needed to convert it to Alternating Current (AC) AC for use in the home.
Yes. Inside is preferable, but if you do not have space in the home, we can mount your solar battery to a wall outside the property. However, it shouldn’t be in a place exposed to midday sun or heavy rain, but this is usually easy to fix by adding some sheltering above it.
The battery must also be high enough that it won’t get wet in the event of flooding and away from areas where vehicles could hit it. Our solar specialists will advise you on the perfect outdoor spot if indoor space is limited.
The lifespan of a solar battery is approximately ten years but varies depending on the type of battery, how many cycles it goes through, and general maintenance. Solar batteries typically have a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee.
There are many aspects to think about when deciding which battery to choose. The best battery depends on your budget, everyday usage, and lifestyle, such as which appliances you most want the battery to power if there is an outage.
You’ll need to consider the total amount of electricity that a battery can store and the amount of electricity it can discharge at any one time.
Our installers will talk you through the options and help you make the best choice for your home.
Temperature is the main factor that effects a battery’s lifespan. The best location to store a battery is in a reasonably cool spot but away from freezing temperatures.
If a solar battery’s temperature falls below 30 degrees Fahrenheit, it will need extra voltage to attain the maximum charge. If the battery temperature rises above 90 degrees, it will overheat and need a decrease in charge.
Many leading battery manufacturers provide temperature moderation as a feature. So, choosing a quality battery and keeping an eye on the temperature will extend your battery life.
