We provide some of the most affordable EV chargers on the market. Furthermore, government funding is currently open for those living in rented housing and flat owners. The government grant will contribute up to 75% towards the outlay for a new charger, up to £350. Business owners with dedicated parking can also apply for a grant for up to 40 chargers, to a maximum of £14,000 under the Workplace Charging Point Scheme.
Oxted Solar Farm Plans Submitted
People living near the site of a vast proposed solar farm near Oxted have hit out at developers. Plans have been proposed to put 42,000 solar panels on 61 acres of greenbelt land located a few hundred metres from Staffhurst Wood, a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Local campaigners against the project say the farm would transform the area’s character and be an additional flood risk to Limpsfield, which is already at risk of floods.
Applicants Locogen, who build major renewable energy projects across the UK, say the scheme would strike an “acceptable balance” and provide enough power to more than 5,000 homes.
But residents say the application, which still needs to have a decision date, would damage the area’s beauty.
While Locogen says they will improve biodiversity by planting more hedgerows, neighbours say the farm will induce environmental damage. In an already flood-hit area, more concentrated rainfall caused by raindrops bouncing off panels will raise the flooding risk.
Documents supporting Locogen’s application said the field would generate enough power to supply 5,500 homes, or 6.4% of properties, in Tandridge and the Sevenoaks district in Kent.
While solar farms and home panels use the same technology using solar power to generate electricity, they differ in terms of scale and capacity. Solar farms are designed to generate large amounts of electricity for power grids and large-scale consumers, while home solar panels are designed to generate electricity for individual households.
The Benefits of a Home Solar Power System
There are several benefits of home solar panels, including:
Lower Energy Costs
One of the main benefits of home solar panels is they reduce energy costs. By generating your own electricity, you decrease reliance on energy companies and avoid expensive bills.
Increased Home Value
Installing solar panels on will increase its value, making it more attractive to potential buyers if you decide to sell.
By installing home solar panels, you lower your carbon footprint and help to mitigate climate change. You’ll contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future without damaging farms or woodland.
Home solar panels give you more control over your energy use and production. You can generate your own electricity and reduce your reliance on the grid.
Incentives and Rebates
Many governments offer incentives and rebates to homeowners who install solar panels. These can help offset the installation cost and make solar energy more accessible to homeowners.
Home solar panels require minimal maintenance and have a long lifespan, often 25 years or more. If you buy electricity from a solar farm, the high costs of building and running the farm, with staff, security etc., will be included in the electricity cost.
